Platinum Clubs® of America – Club Spotlight
Chicago Yacht Club
A Platinum Club Since 2012
FOR THE SECOND TIME IN TWO YEARS, Chicago Yacht Club was ranked in the top 10 of US Yacht Clubs, moving up two places to seventh overall. The Chicago Yacht Club Staff and Members are very proud to be Platinum as recognized by our peers in the industry. We inform our membership about our Platinum status in the footer of our weekly e-newsletter, Dock Lines. We also share the Platinum Club logo on the landing page of the member-side of our website and on the home page footer of our public website. Our commodore wrote an outstanding press release on our status when the new list was announced this year. Founded in 1875, the Chicago Yacht Club is one of the oldest and most respected yacht clubs in the world. Its mission is to encourage, promote and develop knowledge, participation and enjoyment of all aspects of yachting. To that end, the Club hosts many world-class competitions, including its signature Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac and numerous North American and World Championships.
Chicago Yacht Club is also recognized as a leader in sailing education, with one of the largest junior sailing programs in the United States. The Club is home to more than 1,400 members, including winning America’s Cup skippers, Olympic medalists and hopefuls, and outstanding boaters of all types, from ages 4 to 104. They offer year-round activities for a diverse membership at two locations on the city’s shoreline, at Monroe and Belmont Harbors.
The Club’s downtown location, Monroe Station, is anchored by the city skyline as well as Grant, Millennium and Maggie Daley Parks, and offers incredible views of the lake and city from its main dining room and seasonal outdoor patio. Belmont Station is a family-friendly venue for casual lunches and dinners that typically serve more informal fare than Monroe Station. Belmont is host to many regattas and racing series and is a great location for hosting Members’ private events.
General Manager, Dwight Jenson, believes that the Club is on its way to becoming recognized internationally as one of the best yacht clubs in the world. “It’s an honor to receive the Platinum Clubs® of America recognition and continually move up the list. We remain committed to our members and believe our club’s strategic focus on boating and related amenities, including hosting of high-level national and international regattas, are keys to our success,” said Jenson.
