Excellence in Platinum Clubs LIVE 2017

Excellence in Platinum Clubs LIVE 2017

THIS PAST FEBRUARY, Club Leaders Forum conducted its second annual Excellence in Platinum Clubs LIVE event at the famed Isleworth Golf & Country Club in Windemere, Florida, just prior to the CMAA National Conference.

Themed and formatted after a live TV show, the program for Licensed Platinum Club Managers was fast-paced, entertaining and informative. Co-hosted by Mr. Wayne Sheffield, Isleworth General Manager and his wonderful staff—Isleworth was an outstanding venue—Mr. Sheffield shared his Management experiences coming from Britain to the United States with over 100 General Managers and guests in attendance.

Among General Managers and special guests were several Club Leaders Forum Advisory Board Members: Mr. Jeff Mc Fadden, The Union League of Philadelphia; Mr. Atilla Kardas, Jupiter Hills Club; Mr. Tim Timlin, Houston Country Club; Mr. Kevin Vitale, Baltusrol Golf Club; and Mr. John Dorman, The University Club – New York. They took center stage to share their expertise and opinions in a competitive segment titled “The Platinum Challenge.” The winners were the team of Messrs. McFadden and Dorman.

Special guest Bradley Steele, General Counsel and Chief Lobbyist for National Club Association in the nation’s capital, answered questions on a very interesting topic that he was very familiar with, entitled “Mr. Trump Goes to Washington.” Mr. Steel attended Mike Pence’s wedding and had intriguing insights on the Trump impact in the private club industry. Suffice it to say, Mr. Steele confirmed that a Trump presidency will be positive for private clubs.

Invited guests who joined the show in a segment called “The View,” included Mr. Joe Passov, Executive Editor of GOLF Magazine, who answered questions on course rankings and the media in private clubs, and Mr. Andrew Wood, President of Legendary Marketing, who addressed social media with an emphasis on how Facebook is the way to communicate with members and their spouses in the future. The much respected Mr. Robert Trent Jones, Jr., from RTJ Course Design, had wonderful insights into the future of private clubs, and spoke of his experience as a member of the Bohemian Club in San Francisco. Mr. George Stavros, from Pacesetter Technology, rounded out the segment as he addressed the future of phone apps in the industry.

The evening concluded with “Meet the Platinum Partners.” This part of the lineup offered the Partners, carefully selected by Club Leaders Forum for their achievement of Excellence, an opportunity to explain how they contribute to strengthen the industry from their standpoint of expertise.

As the curtain fell on the Second Annual Excellence in Platinum Clubs LIVE, guests attended a wonderful cocktail reception where networking and storytelling went on well into the “Late Show.”
